Did you know that food blogging is hard hard hard? You need good lighting, props, and a myriad of other things that just aren’t in my wheelhouse/I can’t be arsed to do, and this is why I don’t often write about food anymore.

That being said one of my main goals with this blog is to help people see just how easy it can be to eat healthy and get creative in the kitchen… even if you’re a hot mess!

“Damn girl, is that you or is it a drunk ass Julia Child? I CAN HARDLY TELL THE DIFFERENCE!”

Spicy Spiralized Sweet Potatoes

Anyways, today we are going to be talking about these tasty AF spicy sweet potato spirals. Now, before we dig in I am going to have to specify that you want the orange fleshed sweet potatoes for these. None of that pasty-ass beige tuber nonsense. What you’re looking for is something more like a yam. In fact, it may be labeled as a yam, even though apparently that might be bullshit.

These are extremely tasty and work great as a side dish or a snack.

When I make them alone, I usually mix 1 cup of plain Greek Yogurt with 1-2 tbsps of my Ranch Mix for dipping.

For spiralizing, I use the Paderno Wold Cuisine 3 Blade Spiralizer.

I got this thing for Christmas and it’s legitimately amazing.

This, and my Soda Stream are definitely on my kitchen faves list. If I ever get invited to a fancy party and I get a plus one, I will throw a tux on this thing and we will dance the night away.

Sorry darling husband, but can you drop kick a root vegetable into a smooth spiral? I THINK NOT.

Sweet Potato Spicy Spirals
Spicy sweet potato curly fries that are so sinfully good, they are often considered one of the main factors that contributed to the fall of the Roman Empire #funfact (#notafact) Use orange flesh sweet potatoes for this. None of that pasty ass regular sweet potato nonsense. I'd say use yams but apparently yams are complicated and yams aren't really yams (or something like that).

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees. Peel your sweet potato/yam and spiralize it.

  2. Place spiralized sweet potato into a large bown and drizzle with olive oil. Toss to coat.
  3. Take your spices and mix them in a small bowl. Shake your spice mix over the spiralized yams and toss to evenly distribute.
  4. Place sweet potato spirals in a shallow even layer on a baking sheet. It's best to use parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  5. Place in the oven to bake for about 20 mins. These are finicky as hell and will burn fast! Shake them around often and rotate. Show them who's boss, but be gentle. Tell them they're doing a great job! I check on mine and toss around about every 5 mins or so.
Recipe Notes

Don't let these burn, I mean this. Toss, turn, rotate.

Fuss around the stove like a foreign Granny.

Treat them right and they will be good to you, trust.
